The Ala. Governor acts as the Commander-in-Chief of the State Militia. This series consists of correspondence and petitions concerning the militia and military affairs. Many of the letters request the provision of public arms. Several letters discuss conflicts between settlers and Creek Indians in Shelby Co. 1830 Mar.

Moore was a U.S. Senator from Alabama, 1831-37, after which he moved to Texas where he died in 1845. Moore also served as a U.S. Congressman representing Alabama, 1821-29, and as Governor, 1829-31.
